Nice! I built a harvester much like that and it worked great. I really like how you installed it in a plastic bin. I didn't think through that far.  Too bad I gave it away when I moved. I might need to make another one and use some of your ideas there.

Most days the catch bin is dry. You are right -- It should not have drainage. When I get drainage it is usually intentional. I pour in water and come back in an hour to get the compost tea. Is that bad for the worms? I think of it as a good rain for that day :)

Maintaining 70% to 80% moisture level will NOT have any drainage :)

Using plastic bins retains moisture and it seemed like the compost was always too wet. I stopped adding water completely and let the food "bring" the moisture to solve that problem.
