The authors, Janet Hogan Taylor and Loren Nancarrow give you enough information on worms and their environment to get you going. There is a good amount of scientific information such as genus, order, and species names, but you never feel overwhelmed like you need to be a scientist to understand it. It contains everything you could possibly need to know including information on different worm species, kinds of bins, trouble shooting, starting a worm business, and more.

This pleasant read is the “Vermi Bible” for most people who compost their household waste with worms. The author, Mary Applehof, gives a very solid scientific introduction to the little critters and answers most of your basic questions about worms. Worms Eat My Garbage is a simple “how-to” guide covering everything from how to set up a worm bin, to what types of garbage are best for worm composting, to taking care of the worms, to effectively saving money while reaping the benefits of the process.

If you are starting with vermicomposting, this is an excellent worm composting reference book!
